Mum Talks – Shout Out Series For Small Business

We are delighted to kick off this new series with Cathy from weaning.ie

Cathy is a Senior Paediatric Dietitian in a Children’s Hospital in Dublin for over 12 years. I have 3 children of my own.

On completing my B.Sc at NUIG, in 2004 I graduated with an M.Sc Dietetics from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. I worked with the adult population for 4 years and in 2008 followed my dream to work with children. I have worked with hundreds of families in many different areas of childhood nutrition including Infant feeding, Metabolic Disorders and Type 1 Diabetes.

A healthy lifestyle begins at home, in infancy. With this in mind I established ‘weaning.ie‘. I provide theory based nutrition workshops to parents. I am excited to start online workshops this week. My aim is always to share what I have learned and to empower parents to increase the success and reduce the stress of feeding a family.

I am a member of the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute and registered with CORU.

Next up we have Karen Andersen from Keep Them Busy Mom

Karen started @keep_them_busy_mom when the covid 19 pandemic hit Ireland. I wanted to share fun ideas to keep the kids busy at home. The aim is to provide quick and easy activities the kids can do with things you already have at home for babies, toddlers, school aged children and teens. Arts and crafts, science, sensory, outdoors and open ended play.

I am also the owner and founder of @senseabletots and @senseablekidsevents so have loved bringing some of the concepts of my two businesses into people’s homes which hopefully has made lockdown a little easier.

Next up we have Emma Hales from Farmyard The Label

The small and timeless collection is completely designed by me and inspired by Motherhood, nature and Ireland. The sewing machine has always been in my life. I grew up with my mother making clothes for me, she taught me how to sew and knit, and I then went on to study textile design in university (NCAD Dublin). It was there where my love of childrenswear was discovered and I went on to design, buy and source for some of the leading childrenswear brands in the world.
Since becoming a mother in 2017 I have had some time to put pen to paper and design the collection I’ve always dreamt about. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!
